Baytown Police & Fire Vehicle Service Center
A new 31,000 SF vehicle maintenance building for both Police and Fire mechanics will be built as part of phase one of the of the multi-phase public safety campus. This project also included 3 other vehicle storage buildings totaling an additional 13,000 square feet. The current police mechanics building had to move before the new public safety building can be built. By splitting these buildings into a separate project with its own GMP and fast tracking the construction documents the overall project was able to save 6 months of construction time. The new combined vehicle service building is over a football field long and 40 feet high at its tallest to allow the fire trucks to raise ariels to allow cabs to tilt to access engines. It is a pre-engineered metal building designed to withstand 160 mph hurricane force with CMU interiors for durability. It is split into two large climate-controlled service areas one for fire and one for police which are drive through bays. These bays area serviced by a central fluids delivery system that dispense Oil and other fluids at a metered pump to each service position. Compressed air is and power is available from above at each station as well at other areas throughout the facility.
